Thanks to global warming, sea levels are rising, water scarcity is increasing and we are more vulnerable to extreme weather events such as floods or droughts.

Coupled with rapid urbanisation, water systems present both major challenges and opportunities for cities.

This project reimagines the relationship between people and water in the cities of the future, setting a new standard for living sustainably with nature.

The potential of the underused lakes and canals in the East London neighbourhood of Thamesmead are explored whilst also proposing a holistic strategy that integrates ecological restoration with social and economic development.
