Devonport, Plymouth, has been shaped throughout history by its links to Britain’s naval and maritime past.

Remnants of this past, as well as today’s naval presence are still visible, most notably in the boundary walls that are present.

The presence and shifting nature of these walls through different periods of history had a significant impact on the growing urban form of the town.

This proposal seeks to trace these walls, and use their presence, as well as absence, as a generator for a new urban landscape that reorients the district and becomes a key driver of culture, economy and wellbeing.
