Julia’s project explores the emotional turmoil experienced during a meltdown through personifying a meltdown in the form of a monster.
The monster is abstract and open to interpretation due to meltdowns being different for every individual.
The animation shows the different stages, starting with the build-up and finishing with the peak at its most intense stage.
It aims to raise awareness of how an autistic person might feel on the inside during a meltdown and help others understand what it’s like. It was made with the idea of using it for the National Autistic Society and World Autism Awareness day.
