Product & Structural Design
In third world countries, vaccines are traditionally transported in cool boxes with ice packs. This only keeps vaccines cool for a limited period of time.
Vac³ (Vac-Cube) is a vaccine cool box that does not require ice packs or electricity. The box has vacuum insulation panels and is cooled through evaporative cooling, using zeolite beads and a hand vacuum pump.
It can maintain a temperature of 2°C- 8°C, only needing to be pumped once every couple of days. This allows long and difficult journeys to be made without the need for electricity, fridges or ice packs. For villages and facilities with power, an electric pump can be used.
