Last week Chrissy Levett, founder of Creative Conscience, ran an inspiring talk and workshop on ‘Creativity for social and environmental impact’ as part of the London Design Festival. The Brompton District in West London played host to a series of exhibitions and events discovered in shops, showrooms, galleries and institutions, and a curated design programme within temporary spaces in the District. The theme for the 2019 programme is ‘Nature / Nurture’; exploring what design is doing to protect and learn from the natural world.
Creative Conscience also attended a talk at the V&A by Dame Vivienne Westwood, as part of the same series of talks, entitled “Sustainability Revolution: The role of activism in designing a sustainable future”. Vivienne took to the stage announcing “There’s no time to talk about fashion today”. Repeating Greta Thunberg’s slogan “Our House is on Fire”, she went on to call for fundamental change in all aspects of society from the worldwide banking system and ownership of land to the banning of free newspapers and magazines, canceling Brexit and reassessing the day to day way we live our lives. Her talk was a rallying cry for everyone to affect real change to save our planet as a matter of urgency.
A remarkable lady with whom we share beliefs and aims to change the world for the better, we were so proud to take a shot of Vivienne holding one of our Creative Conscience posters. Thanks Vivienne, we are grateful for your support and the rallying cry.
