Tara Hanrahan Service Design

Tara is a communication designer and educator with 20 years experience in multidisciplinary creativity and responsible design.

Her current practice (Think/Do) applies an explorative and informed approach to the creation and direction of communication materials and experiences across branding, print, exhibition, events, interaction and signage – either working directly with clients from the private and public sector, or via collaboration with creative partners and brands.

In her former role as Creative Director of pioneering, ethical design agency Thomas.Matthews, she designed and directed projects for museums/cultural spaces, governments, global corporations, charities and NGOs; receiving awards from Graphis Design Annual, Arts & Business, Museums + Heritage, Visit London and FX International Interior Design.

Her work has been published in numerous publications and exhibitions and her projects and opinions feature in Grafik, Creative Review, It’s Nice That, Blueprint, Design Week, Computer Arts, 360 Design and IdN.

Tara is Co-founder of the Conscientious Communicators Research Hub based at London College of Communication, (University of the Arts London) – tasked with exploring and embedding responsible approaches within design education and consolidating a community of practice around eco-social creativity.

She is also a Visiting Lecturer at numerous UK and international academic institutions – tutoring on graphics and communication design, advising on sustainable practices and running workshops utilising strategic design to respond to key social challenges.
