Mat heads up the organisation’s ‘Design Challenges’ programme which runs national competitions that utilise design to address societal issues, create practical solutions to complex problems and stimulate opportunities for enterprise. Whether stopping the spread of superbugs, reducing crime or promoting health and wellness for an ageing population, the programme shows how design can help build a stronger economy and improve everyday life.
Before joining the Design Council, Mat was a partner at IDEO, an internationally renowned design and innovation consultancy, where he focused mostly on creating new digital products and services, but occasionally food and footwear too. His current academic roles include Adjunct Professor at Imperial College Business School and external examiner for Product ?Design at Glasgow School of Art.
Mat was part of our panel of judges in 2013 and has kindly agreed to stay close to the awards as an Ambassador.
