At the end of October, Creative Conscience was in attendance at the launch of youth homelessness charity Accumulate’s most recent zine, Decay Issue 3. Subtitled: ‘Words, images and random thoughts by people affected by homelessness’, this volume of Decay is a striking and characterful publication that represents the collaboration between The House of Saint Barnabas, Accumulate and the students of Ravensbourne University.
Content for the magazine was developed during a series of workshops, which was subsequently handed over to 80 second year graphic design students from Ravensbourne University. Briefed to produce a series of spreads with the content they’d been given, the third issue of Decay was created.
The House of Saint Barnabas was a perfect setting with their amazing space being used to host a vibrant room decorated with tall ‘Decay’ branded banners and a display of Accumulate’s various items for sale including stickers, pin badges, prints and the zines themselves.
Issue 3 weaves a collage of different expressive design styles that offer a peek into the perspective of people affected by homelessness. The potential and power of people working together towards a common good shines through on every page and all involved should be very proud of their efforts.
We’re very proud of being able to sponsor Accumulate and helping to make Decay Issue 3 a reality. We’d like to thank The House of Saint Barnabas for having us and congratulate Accumulate on another inspiring and progressive project.
